India beats Lanka by four wickets in Perth ODI

India defeated Sri Lanka by four wickets in the second match of the ongoing Commonwealth Bank ODI tri-series here on Wednesday.

At Perth today, India achieved the modest target of 234 runs set by Sri Lanka in 46.4 overs.

The unbroken seventh-wicket partnership between R Ashwin and Ravinder Jadeja yielded 53 runs, played a vital role in assuring victory.

While Ashwin was unbeaten on 30, Jadeja was not out on 24. Virat Kohli was the top scorer with a fine knock of 77.

Earlier, electing to bat after winning the toss, Sri Lanka made 233 for 8 in the stipulated 50 overs. Dinesh Chandimal made 64.

Ashwin who also took three wickets in the Sri Lankan innings, was declared 'Man of the Match'.

India had earlier lost to hosts Australia in their opening encounter on Sunday. The next match will be played between India and Australia at Adelaide on the February 12. (ANI)
