Madonna fans oppose bombing Iran before Israel gig

Herald Globe (IANS) Friday 10th February, 2012

Israeli fans of pop star Madonna have asked the government not to launch any air strikes against Iran until after the diva's concert in Tel Aviv May 29.

In a newly opened Facebook page, fans of the "Queen of Pop" fear that the US star will cancel her scheduled performance for political reasons if Iran is bombed over its controversial nuclear programme, Israeli daily Haaretz reported.

Using the nickname for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the the Facebook group said: "Bibi don't start a war with Iran until after Madonna's show on May 29."

In the past, other international performers have cancelled performances in Israel, including Depeche Mode in 2006 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2001.
