Ecclestone under pressure to stop Bahrain Grand Prix
Herald Globe (ANI) Friday 10th February, 2012
Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone is under pressure to stop the Bahrain Grand Prix race this season.
The race at the Sakhir circuit was cancelled last year after vicious riots broke out in the country killing 34 people, The Sun reports.
Seven members of the House of Lords, plus Green Party leader Caroline Lucas have written an open letter to Ecclestone to stop this year's race, as it is not the right time to take back F1 to Bahrain.
"Given the current dire situation, with daily street protests and the deaths of more civilians, we do not believe that the time is right for Formula One to return to Bahrain," the open letter said. (ANI)
