Marquette forward Brendan Bailey will pursue a pro career and bypass his final two seasons of eligibility.
The 6-foot-8 sophomore declared for the 2020 NBA Draft last month but still had the option of returning to school.
"After counseling with my family I have decided to forgo my Junior and Senior year and pursue a career in professional basketball," he posted Friday on Instagram. "This has always been a dream of mine, and Marquette has helped prepare me to make this dream a reality."
Bailey started all 30 games for the Golden Eagles in 2019-20, averaging 7.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 25.4 minutes per game. He played in 34 games (three starts) as a 2018-19 freshman.
"We are thankful for his contributions to our program the last two seasons and will do all we can to assist him with the process," Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski said in a statement. "His best basketball is ahead of him and we can't wait to see where his journey takes him next."
Bailey is the son of former NBA forward Thurl Bailey, who played 12 seasons with the Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves.
