TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, July 11 (PIA) - - The Department of Health (DOH) region 2 has confirmed nine new cases of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) today, bringing the total cases to 161 regionwide.
Based on the latest report of the DOH-2's Health Education and Promotions Unit, eight of the new cases were tested in Cagayan province while the other one was tested in Isabela.
CV 153 is a 30 year-old male from Tuao, Cagayan, a locally stranded individual (LSI) who came from Tondo, Manila.
CV 154, a 29 year-old female, CV 155, a 6 year-old female and CV 156, a 68 year-old female, are all residents of Enrile, Cagayan. All of them came from Quezon City.
CV 157 is a 36 year-old female from Baggao, Cagayan. She is an Overseas Filipino Worker from Saudi Arabia who arrived in the country last June 18. She underwent quarantine in Manila from June 18 to 30. When she arrived in her hometown last July 6, she was subjected to swab test where her result turned positive today.
CV 158, a 37 year-old male, CV 159, a 40 year-old male, CV 160, a 21 year-old male, were all arrived in Alcala, Cagayan last July 10 from Pasay City to attend the burial rites of their relative. However, local officials did not allow them, instead they were subjected to swab tests and quarantine.
CV 161 is a 43 year-old male from Naguilian, Isabela. He is an OFW from Panama who arrived last June 27.
Llester Guzman, HEPU officer, said all of the recorded new cases are asymptomatic and are now at their respective local government unit isolation facilities.
He also said that contact tracing is now being conducted by the concerned officials.
Meanwhile, Guzman said that five of the positive cases recorded will be transferred to the National Capital Region as they are not residents here.
According to Guzman, they are CV 143, an inmate at the Cagayan Provincial Jail who came from Caloocan City, CV 152, who is working in Iguig town, and CV 158, CV 159, and CV 160, all from Pasay City. (ALM/OTB/PIA-2)
