Denver Broncos starter Drew Lock and two other quarterbacks will be allowed to return to practice on Wednesday after another negative test for COVID-19, multiple outlets reported Tuesday.
Lock, Brett Rypien and practice squad member Blake Bortles were forced to quarantine after they were ruled to have had close contact with quarterback Jeff Driskel, who tested positive for the virus last Thursday. As a result, the Broncos played Sunday against the New Orleans Saints -- a 31-3 loss -- with practice squad wide receiver Kendall Hinton at quarterback.
All three quarantined quarterbacks were found to have had contact with Driskel while not wearing required masks -- an act Lock apologized for later.
"We're all disappointed that it happened, it's not just Drew,'' coach Vic Fangio said Monday. "I know Drew is getting the bulk of it because he's the starter, but there was four of them in there and you'd like one of them to take the lead to make sure they're spaced out far enough.''
Hinton played 22 games at quarterback at Wake Forest before being converted to wide receiver. He was 1-of-9 passing for 13 yards with two interceptions.
The Broncos (4-7) are scheduled to play the Chiefs (10-1) in Kansas City on Sunday night. Lock is expected to start.
