New Delhi [India] April 19 (ANI): Gujarat Titans (GT) assistant coach Aashish Kapoor suggested that even successful cricketers can develop bad habits with basics, either in batting or bowling, when they are performing well.
'As cricketers whether it is a batsman or a bowler, over a period of time when you're doing well, you get into certain bad habits whether its batting or bowling, with your basics, and with Rashid I think it was his back which was hurting him last year where he had to do a surgery. Sometimes when you are in so much pain and you're still playing matches, you tend to do something with your action so that your pain is less,' Aashish Kapoor said in the pre-match press conference.
'I think there have been a few things that we spoke this year, after two-three games, where he needs to make a few adjustments to his front hand, which was rather closed. It should be facing the batsman when he's bowling. So he's doing that now. And he's bowling better lengths in the last one or two games. Hopefully, he gets his confidence back, gets a few wickets, and he'll be the old Rashid Khan again,' he added.
Kapoor also talked about Rabada's absence from the team.
'We are just waiting for him [Rabada], he might return. He's got some family, personal problems for which he's gone. Once he's sorted out with that, if its sorted out in time, he will be back. But we don't know when. We are just waiting as everyone is.' he added.
Gujarat Titans (GT) will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 35th match of the IPL 2025. This match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
GT, with four victories and two defeats in six games, is second in the points table. In their last game against the Lucknow Super Giants, they were defeated by six wickets. Shanaka has joined the team in place of the injured Phillips, and they have also suffered some player losses to injuries.
DC, on the other hand, leads the table with five victories and one defeat in six games. In their last game, they defeated the Rajasthan Royals in a thrilling super over. Starc was named Player of the Match for bringing the game to a super over after requiring nine runs in the last over. He also led them to victory in the Super by restricting RR to 11. (ANI)
