New Delhi [India], April 23 (ANI): Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu acknowledged Delhi Capitals (DC) batter Abhishek Porel's good innings against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
Speaking on Match Centre Live on JioHotstar, Rayudu highlighted his impressive striking, but also pointed out some inconsistencies and room for improvement. He suggested that Porel can learn from KL Rahul's innings and work on his batsmanship by focusing on more grounded shots.
'It was a very good innings from Porel. He wasn't always in complete control--there were a few streaky shots--but everything came off for him tonight. Ideally, he should've carried his bat and finished the game, like KL Rahul did. He can learn from that. His striking was impressive, but he can work on his batsmanship--maybe pick more boundaries along the ground like Sai Sudharsan. Still, a decent knock overall.' JioStar expert Ambati Rayudu said while speaking on Match Centre Live on JioHotstar.
Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson praised DC bowler Mukesh Kumar's effective bowling performance, he highlighted his ability to use reverse swing and dismiss the dangerous Mitchell Marsh. He emphasised Mukesh's commitment and his crucial role in taking wickets during the middle overs.
'Mukesh Kumar bowled really well. He made the most of the ball reversing early--the yorker that got Mitchell Marsh swung a fair bit. Marsh was batting beautifully, so that was a big wicket. Mukesh ran in with full commitment and did a great job targeting key wickets in the middle overs.'
Rahul's aggressive performance and Abhishek Porel's steady half-century propelled Delhi Capitals to an 8-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.
Following an effective bowling performance, Rahul and Porel's exhilarating fifties ensured DC secured the win with effortless confidence. Rahul, who played three seasons with Lucknow, returned to his old venue and silenced the crowd with his record-breaking 57* and aligned DC on points with Gujarat Titans at 12 points each.
Rahul reached his 40th half-century in the IPL and became the quickest player to attain 5000 runs in the history of the lucrative league. (ANI)
