Anders Dreyer scored a goal with an assist as visiting San Diego FC solidified their lead atop the Western Conference with a 2-1 victory over Los Angeles FC on Sunday.
Hirving Lozano also scored a goal and CJ dos Santos made three saves as San Diego FC (17-7-5, 56 points) won its seventh consecutive road game, while earning points in six consecutive games overall.
Denis Bouanga scored a goal for LAFC (11-7-8, 41 points), which saw its three-game MLS points streak since the end of Leagues Cup play come to an end.
Son Hueng-Min made his home debut for LAFC in his fourth game overall with the club since his move from Tottenham in the English Premier League. Hugo Lloris, Son's former teammate at Tottenham, made two saves for LAFC.
Dreyer's game-winning goal came in the 66th minute when he took a long pass from Jeppe Tverskov, eluded two LAFC defenders and scored on a deflection from the center of the penalty area.
Dreyer's 14th goal of the season, along with his 18 assists, gave him an MLS-best 32 goal contributions.
Son nearly got LAFC even in the 78th minute, but his curling right-footed shot hit off the right foot post. Bouanga had a chance in the 82nd minute when he was one-on-one with dos Santos, but had the ball taken away by the goalkeeper toward the top of the penalty area.
LAFC found their way on the scoreboard in the 15th minute when David Martinez sent a long entry pass up the middle and Bouanga used his right foot to flip the ball over dos Santos and into the goal. It was Bouanga's team-leading 15th of the season.
San Diego FC drew even at 1-1 in the 33rd minute when Dreyer popped a left-footed pass over the top of the LAFC defense to Lozano, who scored with his right foot.
LAFC's Martinez was upended on a tackle by Paddy McNair in the 55th minute and departed the game after hitting the turf with his upper body and the side of his head.
