With Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray questionable for Sunday's road game against the Indianapolis Colts, the team signed quarterback Kedon Slovis to the 53-man active roster from the practice squad on Saturday.Murray injured his foot in the third quarter of last week's 22-21 loss at home against the Tennessee Titans and was able to finish the game.Murray missed practice Wednesday and Thursday before participating Friday in a limited capacity. If he is unable to play Sunday, Jacoby Brissett is expected to start against the Colts, with Slovis serving as his backup.
If Murray can play, the Cardinals will operate with three QBs on the roster. Murray, 28, has not missed a game since sitting out Weeks 1-9 in 2023 while recovering from surgery for a torn ACL.
Murray has completed 68.3 percent of his passes for 962 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions in five starts this season. He has rushed for 173 yards and one score.
Slovis, 24, played at BYU in 2023 before going undrafted. He also played one season at Pittsburgh and three at Southern California. He went through training camp with the Colts last season and with the Houston Texans this season before he was released Aug. 26 and signed to the Cardinals' practice squad two days later.
To make room for Slovis on the roster, the Cardinals placed punter Blake Gillikin (back) on injured reserve, sidelining him for at least four games. Arizona had signed punter Pat O'Donnell on Friday.
Brissett, 32, took most of the reps in practice this week. He has made 53 career NFL starts, with 30 coming during his time with the Colts from 2017-20.
