The Golden State Warriors waived guards Seth Curry and LJ Cryer on Saturday, but Curry reportedly will return to the roster.
Basketball writer Marc Stein, in a post to X, said Golden State plans to bring back the younger brother of Warriors star Stephen Curry next month when 'they have sufficient financial flexibility' to do so.
Curry, 35, signed with the Warriors on Oct. 1 and didn't appear in any preseason games. He has played with nine teams since entering the NBA in the 2013-14 season and has averages of 10.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists. He has shot 43.3% from 3-point range over his career.
In 68 games (14 starts) last season with the Charlotte Hornets, he averaged 6.5 points and 1.7 rebounds with a league-high 45.6% shooting clip from long distance.
Cryer, 24, was a key contributor on the University of Houston team that was runner-up in the NCAA Tournament in April. He won a national title with Baylor as a freshman in the 2020-21 season.
Undrafted, he signed as a free agent on Sept. 29. He played in five preseason games and averaged 5.0 points, 1.8 assists and 1.6 rebounds in 9.6 minutes per game.
The Warriors open the season Tuesday against the Lakers in Los Angeles.
