Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar sustained an upper-body injury late in the second period against the Calgary Flames on Monday in Denver and did not play in the third period.
Makar, who finished with three assists, took a hard hit from Adam Klapka late in the second, finished the shift and played two more shifts. He was ruled out for the game late in the third.
Makar, 27, ranks third on the Avalanche with 75 points (20 goals, 55 assists).
