Colson Montgomery went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and Jarred Kelenic had two hits and two RBIs to lift the host Chicago White Sox to a 6-5 victory against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.
Reaching the .500 mark for the first time since March 31, 2025, Chicago won its fourth straight while sending Kansas City to its fifth loss in seven games.
Bobby Witt Jr. hit a two-run home run with two outs in the ninth for the Royals but Seranthony Dominguez struck out pinch hitter Jac Caglianone to end the game and earn his 10th save.
The White Sox collected hits against Royals starter Seth Lugo (1-3) in each of his five innings. After squandering a pair of singles in the first, the hosts took a 2-0 lead in the second as Tristan Peters delivered an RBI double and Drew Romo notched an RBI on a Vinnie Pasquantino error.
Chase Meidroth drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0 in the third.
Kansas City rallied against Chicago starter Noah Schultz to tie the game with a three-run fourth. After facing the minimum through three innings and erasing the lone baserunner with a double-play grounder, Schultz walked the bases loaded to open the fourth.
Nick Loftin got the Royals on the board with a sacrifice fly before Pasquantino followed with a two-out, two-run single on a bloop fly ball that glanced off left fielder Sam Antonacci's glove on a diving attempt.
Kelenic put the White Sox ahead 5-3 with a two-out, two-run double in the fifth. He was thrown out at third base to end the inning.
Tyler Davis (1-1) pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings.
Carter Jensen had two hits for the Royals. Peters added two for Chicago.
Lugo allowed five runs and eight hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Schultz took a no-decision. The rookie left-hander scattered three runs and two hits in 4 1/3 innings. Schultz walked five -- his most in six career starts -- while striking out three.
Meidroth went 0-for-2 as his hitting streak ended at 11 games.
The game was delayed in the fourth after a fan fell from the stands into the visiting bullpen. White Sox personnel treated the fan, who was taken to a local hospital, the White Sox announced.
