The Texas Rangers placed left fielder Wyatt Langford on the 10-day injured list due to a left oblique strain on Wednesday, ending his season.
In corresponding moves, the Rangers selected the contract of outfielder Billy McKinney from Triple-A Round Rock, and transferred infielder/outfielder Sam Haggerty from the 10-day to 60-day injured list.
Langford, 23, left Tuesday night's game against Minnesota in the fifth inning because of left side tightness. The Rangers were eliminated from postseason contention with the 4-1 loss to the Twins.
It's the third stint on the injured list for Langford this season, as he was sidelined from April 9-19 (right oblique strain) and June 25-July 5 (left oblique strain). He also missed games on Sept. 19 and 20 against the Miami Marlins because of left side tightness.
He batted .241 with 22 home runs, 62 RBIs, 25 doubles and 22 stolen bases. Langford leads the Rangers in homers, stolen bases, runs (73), total bases (211), walks (74) and strikeouts (151) through Tuesday.
For his career, Langford is batting .247 with 38 homers and 136 RBIs in 268 games since making his major league debut in March 2024.
Texas selected Langford fourth overall in the 2023 MLB Draft out of Florida.
McKinney, 31, went 1-for-7 (.143) in two games in July after signing as a free agent with Texas. He batted .268 with nine homers and 39 RBIs in 65 games at Round Rock.
A first-round pick (24th overall) by the Oakland Athletics in 2013, McKinney has played for eight major league teams since 2018 and is a career .208 hitter with 34 homers and 88 RBIs.
Haggerty, 31, has not played since Aug. 16 because of left ankle inflammation. The switch hitter batted .253 with two homers and 13 RBIs in 64 games.
